Psychological First Aid is an approach for assisting individuals in the immediate aftermath of disaster and terrorism. It is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short-and long-term adaptive functioning. This training addresses the eight goals of Psychological First Aid and satisfies MRC core competency #6. Presented by Kathleen Conley Norbut.

Participants will learn about the history and origin of the Medical Reserve Corps. The overall program will be discussed, the eight core competencies and the roles and responsibilities of MRC volunteers will be reviewed as will the Policy and Procedure Manual of Western MA MRC.
This course satisfies a basic training requirement for the MRC.
Location of course is the East Longmeadow fire department training room at 150 Somers Road.
Open to all prospective MRC volunteers.

The DART team is actively seeking new members – and you can get a sense of what the team might be involved with/exposed to in a disaster situation
"Dark Water rising" demonstrates the two types of animal responders that prevailed: the established animal welfare groups and the infamous Winn-Dixie "renegades" who followed
